• $\tfrac00$ forms: factor and cancel, or rationalise, or use standard limits/expansions.
• $x\to\infty$ rational functions: compare the degrees of numerator and denominator.
• Left/right limits: $\displaystyle\lim_{x\to a^-}$ and $\displaystyle\lim_{x\to a^+}$; a jump discontinuity has unequal one-sided limits.
• Sandwich (squeeze) theorem: if $g\le f\le h$ and $g,h\to L$, then $f\to L$.
