Plant Kingdom is one of the highest-frequency chapters in the entrance paper, and one of the most scoring - provided your recall is exact. Nothing here needs to be worked out. Every question is settled by knowing which genus, which pigment, which phase or which ploidy.

6. Gymnosperm pairs. **Mycorrhiza - *Pinus, **coralloid roots - *Cycas; **cones on the same tree in *Pinus, **different trees in *Cycas; four megaspores, one develops; two or more archegonia; gametophytes never free-living; air currents and pollen tube, so no water needed.
7. Ploidy rule. Gametophyte structures n, sporophyte structures 2n, primary endosperm nucleus 3n. Meiosis always at spore formation in the sporophyte.
8. Life-cycle patterns. Haplontic - zygotic meiosis, Volvox, Spirogyra, Chlamydomonas. Diplontic - seed plants and Fucus. Haplo-diplontic - bryophytes (gametophyte-dominant) and pteridophytes (sporophyte-dominant).
