Sections 1 to 15 taught the chapter. This section finds out whether you can use it at NEET speed.
NEET rarely asks you to derive anything. It asks whether you know the sign convention cold, whether you can separate a state function from a path function without pausing, and whether a two-line substitution comes out right the first time. The thirty questions below are built the way the paper is built: single-correct items sitting next to assertion-reason, match-the-column and statement-type items, with no warning about which is coming next.
Key Point: Sit with a blank sheet, a pen and a timer, and attempt all 30 questions in one unbroken sitting before you look at a single explanation. Opening the explanation to question 4 before you have attempted question 5 turns a test into a lesson, and a lesson tells you nothing about what you can produce in the hall.

The negative mark settles more scores than the chemistry does. A blind guess across four options loses marks on average; a guess made after two options have been struck out gains them. Eliminate first, then decide whether to answer at all.
[NEET] Thirty questions in thirty minutes is about a minute each, and that minute is an average, not a ration. Nine or ten of these are pure recall and should be gone in fifteen seconds; that saved time is what pays for the Hess's law item and the crossover-temperature item, which need two minutes each.
[NEET] In an assertion-reason question, settle the assertion on its own, then the reason on its own, and only after both are marked true or false ask whether the reason explains the assertion. Students who read the two together and feel that they belong together pick the answer that makes the reason the explanation far too often. A true reason standing next to a true assertion is not automatically an explanation of it.
How to mark yourself
Score , and exactly as the scheme says, with no part marks for a question you nearly had, and add it up.

Now sort the wrong answers into two piles. One pile is chemistry: a sign you reversed, a you counted wrong, an enthalpy whose definition you had blurred with a neighbouring one. Those send you back to a specific section, and to a specific line inside it.
The other pile is format. If two or more of your mistakes fall on the assertion-reason or the statement-type questions, and you can still explain the chemistry correctly when you look at them again, the loss was not chemistry at all. You judged the pair as a unit instead of judging each half. Fixing that is a habit, not a topic: take the ten assertion-reason and statement items in this set, cover the options, write T or F beside each half, and only then look at what the options offer.
One more column in your review sheet: mark the questions you guessed right. They are wrong answers that happened to land, and they belong in the revision pile with the rest.
